PRODUCTIVITY TESTED:
The sow herd has been evaluated and selected since 1975 for generations of bred-in reproductive efficiencies (number of pigs born and weaned, pounds of pigs at 21 days and litters per year and parities per lifetime). We currently use Dr. John Mabry's Full Animal Model to evaluate all genetic records. Our geneticists strongly feel this is the most sophisticated computer modeling program available.
PERFORMANCE TESTED:
Individual performance records are collected for growth rate, backfat and percent lean. EPD's are used for evaluating all breeding stock. The Aloka 21O Real Time Ultrasound machine is currently being used with the LEAN-SORT computer program for interrupting data. Sire groups are evaluated by independent specialists for muscle quality and carcass evaluation.
